You might have noticed that I draw in Sharpie. I do this because I grew up watching my mom draw and that’s what she used. I remember her telling me to do the same. “That way you can’t erase your mistakes. They just become a part of the piece; something to work around.”

You know what? She’s completely right.

Pencil=hesitation and hesitation=uncertainty and uncertainty=no action. No action=no creating. Infinite options are more of a burden than a gift. Lead and pencil give me the option of a million choices forward and a million choices backward with the rub of an eraser.

The Sharpie? Means that I’m decisive with my creating. And when I’m decisive? I’m acting.
